Things to see

Ljubljana is beautiful in any season. During the summer, it has the leisurely feel of a Mediterranean town with people taking the time out of their day for a leisurely chat in one of the many cafes lining the streets. During the winter, the snow turns the city into a frozen fairy-tale, dreaming of warmer spring days when the city again becomes alive. A capital that remains a small town at heart, it will leave a lasting impression.

Walking distance from the City Hotel:
The Three Bridges and Ljubljanica River
Ljubljanica boasts beautiful Three Bridges, connecting the main square (Prešeren Square) with the old town. Take a lovely stroll along the river and don’t forget to stop for a drink and a bit of people-watching in one of the many cafés lining the riverbank.
Prešeren square
The main square of Ljubljana, crowned with a monument to the greatest Slovenian poet, France Prešeren. The bronze poet looks in the direction of Wolfova Street, the home of his unrequited love, Primicova Julija.
Ljubljana's Old Town
Charming old buildings lining the narrow alleyways give Ljubljana a special atmosphere. The streets are lively by day and night.
Open Market
Designed by Jože Plečnik, a renowned Slovene architect who left a strong mark on Ljubljana. The stalls are daily filled with the freshest local produce, from juicy fruit and crisp vegetables to typical Slovenian cheeses and meat products. Just an hour’s drive from the seaside, seafood doesn’t have to travel far to reach the Ljubljana’s fish market, which offers the freshest and the best of the Adriatic Sea.
Ljubljana Castle
The medieval fortress overlooks the city of Ljubljana from atop a lush green hill. The Castle offers superb view of Ljubljana and it hosts many events, including a summer open air cinema.
Town Hall
The residence of Ljubljana’s mayor, it was built in 1484 in Gothic style, but the building underwent many architectural whims and adaptations. In front of the Town Hall stands a replica of Robba’s fountain, while the original, made by Francesco Robba, can be seen in the National Gallery.
